Hi! I enjoy writing poetry alot, and I was searching for any sort of Poetry Group, but unfortunatly I couldnt find any, so I decided to make one! "Poetry is the deification of reality." Edith Sitwell (1887 - 1964), Life magazine, 01-04-63 Poetry to me is to see beauty in mundane things and to enjoy the small things. I hope this group can help you become a better poet!

here is a poem that i wrote some time back.

a blue and pink jellyfish i have seen
blue and pink not red and green
with curly-q tentacles not a tail
with which it uses to carry a pail
whats in that pail i know not
i will look but cant be caught
i climbed the side, the pail it shook
now im in the tentacles crook
now im screaming bleeding so
what to do i dont know
now the poisons setting in
i can not feel my aching limbs
a world of darkness setting in
i do believe this is the end
so now i leave on this note
please play fair and dont do dope.

Hello...to all Phenomenal women!

Posted By jess_rose81 on Oct 17, 2007 at 12:49PM

Well I don't write poetry but I do love to read it and can't wait to put up some of my favorite ones! Here's one now...

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I am new.....

Posted By Sassykitty on Jul 7, 2007 at 10:05AM

Hey all, I am new to this group and so I thought I would just introduce myself. My name is Melissa and I am 28yrs old. I have been writing poetry for some time now and I really enjoy it. I would love to hear some more works from everybody in the group! Here is one that I wrote for my mother recently.....

Mother......By: Melissa Marie Wells

Mother of love, you always were there
Making things fun and a comfort to bear
Gentle but strong, and a bit of the weak
Kept us together, a mother to keep

A nurse,and a counselor
Even a friend
You were whatever you could be
A soul searching blend

A mother to love
For all of our days
You were always a constant
Through all of the haze

A childhood of memories
All bear your face
Happiness and sorrow
But always with grace

You taught us to love
To laugh and to cry
A teacher of life
With whom to rely

So, I leave you this message
And to repay
The wonderful gift
You gave us each day

Always Always Be Your Self! -

Well, I thought I'd start this off by giving one of my poems here... Its nothing WOW. I wrote it for a class and the teacher really liked it. I hope you do too!

Always Always Be Your Self!

I am me. I am unique. I am not an act. I am myself, and no one can change that.

I wonder why people change to fit in. I find that by just being yourself you can accomplish quite a lot.

I hear the taunts of my past, but I always remind myself that the past is the past, and I if I look at it all the time, I will miss the road to the future.

I see people hiding behind masks, masks which could be thrown away, and, if you have real friends, they will love you for what you are, not for what you appear to be.

I am me. I am unique. I am not an act. I am myself, and no one can change that.

I pretend to stay this way, nothing will ever change me, for I am strong as a rock, and I will just change for improvements.

I feel that people should just be their selves, for that’s the best way to learn to be a better being.

I touch my face, just to make sure I am not wearing a mask.

I worry that people’s distinctive personality will die slowly and painfully under that sham.

I cry when I think of the people that just waste their potential and personality to please a few people.

I am me. I am unique. I am not an act. I am myself, and no one can change that.

I understand that some people yearn for friends, but they should look for them by being themselves.

I say that we can find out who our real friends are when we expose our real selves.

I dream about someday when we can find out who we are in reality and just find who our friends are.

I hope that day comes soon.

I am me. I am unique. I am not an act. I am myself, and no one can change that.
